Environmental Impacts and Challenges Associated with Oil Spills on Shorelines

چکیده
Oil spills are of great concern because they impose a threat to the marine ecosystem, including shorelines. As oil spilled at sea is transported shoreline, and after its arrival, behavior physicochemical characteristics change natural weathering phenomena. Additionally, fate depends on shoreline type, tidal energy, environmental conditions. This paper critically overviews vulnerability shorelines spill impact implication seasonal variations with attenuation oil. A comprehensive review various monitoring techniques, GIS tools remote sensing, discussed for tracking, mapping spills. comparison sensors shows that laser fluorosensors can detect types substrates, snow ice. Moreover, current methods prevent from reaching physical booms, sorbents, dispersants, examined. The advantages limitations physical, chemical, biological treatment their application suitability different shore discussed. highlights some challenges faced while managing spills, viewpoints lack data, need integrated decision-making systems, development rapid response strategies optimize protection

Petroleum contamination is a growing environmental concern that harms both terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. However, the public and regulatory and scientific communities have given more attention to the contamination of marine habitats. This is because marine oil spills can have a serious economic impact on coastal activities, as well as on those who exploit the resources of the sea. Thus, c...

Sea ice decline is anticipated to increase human access to the Arctic Ocean allowing for offshore oil and gas development in once inaccessible areas. Given the potential negative consequences of an oil spill on marine wildlife populations in the Arctic, it is important to understand the magnitude of impact a large spill could have on wildlife to inform response planning efforts. In this study w...

On April 20, 2010, an explosion occurred on a British Petroleum (BP) Deep Water Horizon platform, and 2 days later, the platform collapsed. Eleven workers were killed, and oil has been gushing out ever since. Although the initial reports were that about 50,000 gal were being released per day, every few weeks, the estimates released to the American public increased, until in early June, the comp...
